Editing Playlists

A Playlist is a collection of individual audio/video items from the Planet eStream website, grouped together as a single entity. Playlists can contain a mix of; Freeview TV Recordings, Standard Recordings, and Chapters.

This page contains information on editing Playlists. For help on viewing Playlists, please see the Viewing Playlists Help Page.

This help page refers to Categories, however on your system Categories have been renamed to Departments.

How to Create a Playlist

From the Planet eStream Homepage, click Create and then click Playlists. This option is only present if you have the Can Edit Playlists permission.
Enter a Title and Description for the Playlist, and complete any additional details, as required.
Select a Publishing Policy.
Confirm if Private or Public.

Public content can potentially be viewed by anyone.

Private content can only be viewed by yourself and administrators.

The Private/Public option may be disabled, dependant on your user account permissions and on the Publishing Policy that you have selected.
If required, click Select Categories and specify the Categories to which the Playlist should be added. This option is only present if you have the Can Edit Categories permission.
You are taken to the Playlist Items tab.

How to Add Items to a Playlist

From the Planet eStream Homepage, search for the Playlist that you would like to edit.
Click on the title of the Playlist to view the Playlist.
From within the View Page, click the Playlist Items tab.
Click the Add Item to Playlist link. If the link is not present then you do not have permission to edit the Playlist.
The panel to the left will display a Planet eStream search page.

Search for video/audio items to add to the Playlist.
Click the + icon adjacent to any item to add the item to the Playlist.

To add a Chapter, click the Chapter icon adjacent to the item and click the Add link.
Repeat the above process until all the required items have been added to the Playlist.
Click on the cross at the top right of the search dialogue to close the dialogue.

How to Set the Thumbnail of a Playlist

From the Planet eStream Homepage, search for the Playlist for which you would like to set the thumbnail.
Click on the title of the Playlist to view the Playlist.
From within the View Page, click the Details tab.
Click Edit Options, and then click Edit Thumbnail.

Please note: Depending on the layout of the page, certain options may be within More menu.

If the option is not available then you do not have permission to edit the thumbnail for the Playlist.
The Edit Thumbnail panel will load.
Select Upload Thumbnail from File and select an image file.
To apply the thumbnail, click Submit Thumbnail.

How to Edit the Details of a Playlist

From the Planet eStream Homepage, search for the Playlist that you would like to edit the details of.
Click on the title of the Playlist to view the Playlist.
From within the Details tab on the View Page, click Edit Details.

Please note: Depending on the layout of the page, the Edit Details option may be within More menu.

If the option is not available then you do not have permission to edit the details of the Playlist.
The page enters edit mode.
Amend the Title, or Description, and list selections, as required.
Change the Publishing Policy selection, if required.
Change the recording from Public to Private or vice-versa, if required.

Private content may only be viewed by the user who added it, or users whose schema membership permits them to view other users' private content within the selected Publishing Policy.

Public content can potentially be viewed by any user whose schema membership permits them to view content within the selected Publishing Policy.
Use the Change Owner list to take ownership of the recording, if appropriate. For more information on Ownership, please see the ownership Help Page.

How to Share a Playlist

From the Planet eStream Homepage, search for the Playlist that you would like to share.
Click on the title of the Playlist to view the Playlist.
From within the View Page, click Share within the Details tab.
