The Planet eStream Web Recorder

The Planet eStream Web Recorder provides basic video capture capabilities including screen capture and capture from local devices such as webcams.

More advanced capture capabilities including live broadcasting are provided by the Planet eStream Encoding Application for Windows.

Requirements

  • The Planet eStream Web Recorder is compatible with Chrome version 52 and above on Windows and Apple OS.

  • Capturing your screen requires the Planet eStream Chrome Screen Capture Extension.

  • Your browser may request permission to access your Webcam and Microphone.

    The permission will be either be requested in a popup or via a camera icon in your browser's address bar.

    The options are :

    Allow: Permit access to your camera and microphone.

    Block: Deny access to your camera and microphone.

Recording

  • Open The Web Recorder. If you do not have permission to use the Web Recorder, please contact your local administrator.

  • If prompted, follow the instructions to install the Planet eStream Screen Capture Extension (optional).

  • Click the Cogs icon to access the settings dialogue.

  • Select the required video and audio sources and amend the default video/audio quality settings if required.

  • Click the Set Options button to start the preview with your selected settings.

  • Click the Record button to start or pause recording.

  • Click the Stop button to stop recording. Enter the Metadata and options for the recording and click the Upload Recording button.

Recording Picture-in-Picture

  • Follow the steps above.

  • Within the settings dialogue, click the Picture in Picture Settings tab.

  • Select the video source for the Picture in Picture window. The source must be different from the source selected for the main video window.

  • Select the Picture in Picture window size.

  • Adjust the video bitrate and framerate if required.

  • Select whether the audio should be encoded on the main video window or on the Picture in Picture window.

    Changing this option should only be required if you are experiencing audio-sync issues on encoded videos.

  • Click the Set Options button to start the preview with your selected settings.
