Planet eStream Video Editor

Cut together your own video resources for use within a particular class activity or event, combine clips from multiple videos, remove adverts or unwanted sections from TV recordings, or simply neaten up videos with the built-in online editor.

The multi-track video editor also allows you to add custom audio tracks, titles and record commentary on the fly with the built-in voice over tool. It is incredibly simple to use so your users do not require prior video editing knowledge to take advantage of it.

For further guidance on how to use the Video Editor click on the "Help" button in the top menu of the Video Editor to access a page tour, a video guide and list of keyboard shortcuts.

Getting Started with the Video Editor

The Video Editor can be accessed directly from the Tools menu in the main navigation, or from the Edit Video link on the view page options bar.

How to Create a New Media item

To start creating a new edit, click on "New" to create a new project and enter a title for the project. Please note this title will be used as the title for the newly created media item, whereas if the edit track is composed of video content from a single source the metadata will be copied from the source media.

Once you have composed your edit, click on "Submit". Once submitted the edit will be processed and the new media item will be available to you in your Planet eStream media library. You can still perform further tasks such as editing the associated metadata or creating a quiz.

How to Replace Existing Media

If you need to replace an existing item in your media library, you will need to access the Video Editor via the Edit Video link in the options panel of the view page for the item you wish to replace.

When the Video Editor is accessed via this method, the option to have the project replace the media will appear in the "Settings" panel. Enable this option and compose the edit. When submitted, the edit will be processed, and the existing video replaced. In this case all associated media and metadata will be retained.

Managing Edits

Once you have submitted an edit project for processing you are free to exit the Video Editor or keep it open to monitor progress. If email notifications are enabled, you will receive an email once the process is completed.

You can also manage and view the status of your edit projects on the MyHome page under Media > My Edits.
