Blackboard Building Block

From within a Blackboard Learn course page, click Build Content then click Planet eStream V6 in the Mashups section.

The Planet eStream Mashup will load and you will see a standard Planet eStream search box with options. Enter your search terms and click the magnifying glass button to obtain your search results.

Click the item's title to open a preview of that item. Then, click Select to add it to Blackboard, or Select with Details to add with information on the item's owner, upload date, and length (if the item is a single video).

You can also click the side buttons next to the item to add chapters and quizzes created from that item, if any exist.

To enable Planet eStream videos as assignment submissions, you must first change the default security settings in Blackboard which prevent the plugin from doing so.

Once you've done this, students will be able to add a text submission to their assignment. In the text editor, they can find "Planet eStream Item" under the "Mashups" drop-down.

This works best when you have active directory access set up in eStream, and the students have matching Blackboard user names, as this will allow them to use the plugin as themselves. This should prevent students uploading where they do not normally have permission.

From within a Blackboard Learn course page, click Build Content then click Item in the Create section.

Blackboard will open a standard text editor.

Enter the name of your item in the Name text box then click the Add Mashup icon (circled in red in the image below) and click Planet eStream Item.

Please note: If Planet eStream Item option is not in the list of available mashups then you may need to add the option for your course. To do this, click Customization in your blackboard navigation menu (on the left), then click Tool Availability, find Planet eStream V6 (In Text Editor) in the list of tools, tick the adjacent tick-box, then click Submit at the bottom of the page.

Within the Planet eStream plugin window (in the text editor or while adding as an item), click the Upload button at the top of the page.

Click "Choose File", select the file you wish to upload, and several boxes will appear in which to enter the upload settings and item metadata.

Once everything has been filled out correctly, click "Confirm" at the bottom of the window. The item will automatically begin uploading, and once finished, you will be redirected to the previous page.
